If you are enrolled in a health insurance, you will pay less medical fees when you go to a hospital for an illness or injury.
There are 3 kinds of health insurance systems:
・“health insurance”
・“health-care system for people aged seventy-five and over”
・“national health insurance”
Which health insurance you enroll in depends on your working style and age.
Foreigners who stay in Japan for 3 months or more must enroll in some kind of health insurance system.
(This does not apply to those who have the status of residence of “Temporary Visitors.”)
An explanation on how to enroll in “national health insurance” is available on the website of Yokohama City.
