Yokohama Marine Tower opened in 1961 as part of a project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama, with the aim of becoming a symbol of the Port of Yokohama.
The 106-meter-high, decagonal tower served as a lighthouse and kept watch over the Port of Yokohama until September 1, 2008.
The observation floor is a popular spot from which visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the harbor and the city around it.
Yokohama Marine Tower reopened in September 2022. Currently, under the concept of “NATURE & FUTURE,” the tower features exhibitions that aim to create a place where people, things, and events naturally converge and where everyone can talk in peace.
